HISTORY: Niyomtrong vs Winwood – WBA World Minimumweight

Alex “The A Rock” Winwood in his first pro year passed with flying colours in an ambitious leap in class and backed that up as he made quick work of former World Champion Indonesia’s Tibo Monabesa in his second fight in March 2023. Alex then returned defeating world title challenger Reyneris Guyierrez in his third pro fight in June 2023. And in his fourth pro fight Alex defeated Filipino World rated Cris Ganoza.

“I will become the fastest Australian to win a world title” insisted Winwood, 27 who represented Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.” I will break Jeff Fenech's record as Australia's fastest world champion." - Alex Winwood – 2024 NAIDOC Sportsperson of the Year.

Jeff Fenech won his first major title in just his seventh pro contest in 1985. Winwood has been described as a ‘Generational Talent’ will aim to trump that achievement in September as he takes on undefeated WBA Super Champion Thammanoon Niyomtrong who has made eleven successful defences and held the title for over 8 years.

Don't miss Niyomtrong vs Winwood at HBF Stadium, Saturday 7th of September 2024.
